The WhiteStar Corporation began as a "basement business" in January 1990. The firm originally provided consulting services to integrate digital cartographic data into the exploration branch of the oil and gas industry. In the process of satisfying our customers, we discovered the enormous need for nationwide databases of high quality, plug-and-play map data and quickly moved in this direction.
WhiteStar is now a leading supplier of digital cartographic data to the oil and gas, pipeline, natural resource, and engineering industries. The corporation has yearly revenues in the millions of dollars. WhiteStar's products are installed in a variety of companies ranging from independent consultants to multi-billion dollar corporations. Our emphasis on customer service has created a client base of around 700 companies, most of whom are continously working with WhiteStar to enhance their databases.
CartoBase, WhiteStar's line of cartographic database products, allows customers to make stunning oil and gas maps-quickly, efficiently, and privately.
WhiteStar's Digital Elevation Data is based on the USGS National Elevation Database 30 meter grid. Elevation data are available in grid or vector form and can projected into user-specified coordinate systems, making them ideal for adding elevation contours to maps and orthophotos. Digital Elevation Models can be integrated with WhiteStar's Public Land Survey, Texas Land Survey, and Enhanced Culture Databases.
WhiteStar's Digital Raster Graphs are digitally scanned 7.5' USGS 1:24,000 topographic maps. These images can be tiled and projected into user-specified coordinate systems, making them ideal for base maps and for revising and interpreting vector cartographic features.
WhiteStar's OrthoStar® Orthoquad Database consists of aerial photographic quarter quadrangles each covering approximately 15 square miles at a resolution of approximately one meter. Uniform scale and projection make these images ideal for base maps and for revising and interpreting vector cartographic features. OrthoStar® is compatible with WhiteStar 1:24,000 Texas and Public Land Survey data.
WhiteStar's Elevation Service Is the first in a series of ArcGIS 9.0 extensions. This extension returns an elevation in feet or meters given a coordinate from the ArcGIS dataframe
WhiteStar's Enhanced Culture Database is a seamless, high-resolution database of county and city boundaries, roads, railroads, hydrology, airports, power lines, etc. that is ideal for quick-look and final production base maps.
WhiteStar's Texas Land Survey is a seamless, high-resolution database of county boundaries, blocks, surveys, abstracts, subdivisions, lots, and tracts that is ideal for base maps and plotting land ownership and leases. The Texas Land Survey precisely overlays USGS Digital Orthophotos and Digital Raster Graphs, making it useful for indexing and analysis.
The WhiteStar Unlimited Basemap Access (UBA) product is a seamless nationwide digital mosaic of base map information layers from U.S. Census Bureau TIGER Files (with optional TeleAtlas upgrades). Designed for any geospatial mapping project that requires an accurate digital base map, UBA contains 42 layers of cultural features that can be "cookie cut" according to a user-selected area of interest and downloaded into the most popular digital mapping packages.
Unlimited Grid Access (UGA) (pronounced "Uggah") is a seamless digital mosaic of land survey and fitted state and county boundaries covering all public land survey states, Texas, and Offshore State and Federal Waters in the Gulf of Mexico. UGA was developed to provide flexibility to the oil and gas, pipeline, forestry, and insurance industries for mapping projects that span a few square miles or cover the entire nation.
WhiteStar's Unlimited Well Access (UWA) puts nationwide well data on customers' desktops, to create regional or statewide base maps quickly, inexpensively, and privately, any time, without having to order individual data sets from individual states. This digital map-based product contains well header information for oil and gas wells in the U.S., including Alaska, state and federal waters, and the Gulf of Mexico.
